JSCE has consecutively held roundtable meetings on disaster management, which is an urgent issue in Asia, during its 2012 JSCE Annual Meeting in Nagoya and 2013 6^th Civil Engineering Conference in the Asian Region (CECAR) in Jakarta.  In these roundtable meetings, natural disaster experiences and issues were discussed. The third roundtable meeting on disaster management in 2014 will review the issues discussed in the last two meetings and lead further actions including solutions to the issues.

Representatives of the societies of civil engineers from Asian countries, the United States of America, and European countries will attend the meeting. They will also report the actual conditions of various natural disasters and the countermeasures they apply in their own countries, and then discuss the effective international actions and countermeasures in disaster prevention and mitigation. The meeting will examine those countermeasures from viewpoints of both hardware and software and lead the most effective countermeasure (best practice) as a proposal.
