■ Objectives
Asian Board Meeting was set up at JSCE's Annual Meeting Roundtable Meeting held at Nagoya University in 2012, and 2nd ABM was held in Jakarta during ACECC CECAR 6th on August 20, 2013. These two meetings discussed local natural disasters responses, and participants shared their experiences, approaches and views on disaster risk mitigation measures, practices and policies with each other, and also raised issues to be considered in their collaborations. These discussions provided a basis for building cross-border collaboration among the ABM participants.
The 3rd Roundtable Meeting (RTM) will shift its focus to practical applications of disaster responses. Participants will discuss structural "hard" approaches (e.g. sea walls, high rise water dyke, and shelters) and "soft" approaches (e.g. evacuation and drill, disaster education, forecasting and warning systems) and identify best practices for disaster risk reductions and post-disaster relief and recovery.
